We are currently teaching 7 families...

Buenos Dias Familia y Amigos!

Funny story. So Elder Fetters called us last night and told my companion, Elder Langi, that he had emergency changes for this morning so we spent all last night getting him packed up. Then right after we got finished praying and were leaving our house we got another call from Fetters telling us that they didn't need him to be changed out anymore...so we got him all packed up por nada. Which I was a little relieved, because the kid they were going to send to me in his place would have been really interesting. Anyways, funny story for the day...on to the questions.

What is the name of your other companion? Where is he from?

His name is Elder....Steven Mosley, he is from Tacoma Washington.

How is it being in a trio? Shaun says sometimes one feels left out...how is it working for you guys?

I make sure to make fun of both of them equally I`m not biased one to the other, lol. No, we work pretty well together and everyone teaches about the same amount during the lessons, so overall as far as I can see no one is getting left out.

Have you met an elder named Ryan Pack yet? he is close to you...

He is in another zone and unless we get moved to the same zone or become companions I will probably not know him during the mission. And I`ve asked around and no one else really seems to know who he is either, no se.

When you went to the beach...was the water beautiful like in the " Fool's Gold" movie?

LOL, not even close. Those waters were so clear on that movie. Here a lot of the people use these natural waters for batheing. But one day I`ll be able to go to the Caribbean Islands and I`ll tell ya then how the comparison is, lol.

Have you received your package that I sent you a couple weeks ago?

Nope, now that I`m not in Reu anymore the letters and packages come when the zone leaders go to meetings up there pretty much.

I ordered a bunch of CTR rings. They should be here this week. When I send your next package, do you need socks, black pants no cuffs?? :) food?

Mainly if you bump into size 17 shirts those would be cool. And yes, black pants without cuffs would be great!
Food wise...YES! I have been craving some gringo food lately like, goldfish, cheese its, gummies, tootsie pops, peanut butter, shells and cheese, those nature grain snack bars, pretty much any of that stuff and more would be awesome!!!!!!

Cultural experience to share?

This week something that I`ve gotten to notice about my area is how no one really likes to wear clothing , lol, mainly the children... and the mothers often times forget to put away their chiches after they`re done feeding, lol. OH YEAH, and there is this crazy lady that`s always running up and down the streets butt naked but I guess on the random occasion she gets cold because she sometimes runs with a bed sheet looking thing, lol. Needless to say I can't really blame these people....ITS REALLY HOT DOWN HERE, lol!

Most interesting contact of the week?

Most interesting contact this week was definitely a guy named Juan Jose Mendez. We were walking down the road to one of our investigators that lives about an hour outside of La Blanca and we were almost to our investigators house when we heard someone screaming, ELDERS!!!!!, We looked around and we just saw this little tiny guy about 45 years old running towards us and when he got up to us he was like "I have been waiting for you guys to pass by forever!!" So he took us down to his house and sat us down then just ran off into the jungle and came back with 3 of the hugest coconuts I`ve ever seen before freshly cut...I hate coco water, blah!...but we drank them and we started talking to him and apparently some elders had taught him a few years back and for one reason or another stopped teaching him. But anyways, he pretty much has heard all of the lessons and been to church a few times. Then about 5 mins. later, like his whole family came out and before we left we went from talking to one man to teaching a family of 7! Which was really cool. Currently, we are teaching 7 families and 6 adult priesthood holders. The common problem in this area is that no one wants to get married. The belief is that as soon as people get married that they will have nothing but problems afterwards, so we just have to be shifty and get these people married!!!, lol.

Love you all tons,
E. Marquis
