What a great Mother's Day! Brandon was able to call the family on a conference call and all his brothers, sisters, grandpa, grandma, aunt and uncle all got to hear him at the same time. He reports that he is doing well and loves his mission. He is serving in three small towns called Pueblo Nuevo, Nuevo Palmar, and Las Rosas. There are about 4000 people and Elder Burton and Brandon are the only missionaries in those areas. There are 2 branches of the church there and about 45 members in each. On Sundays Elder Burton and Brandon split up with a member so each branch can have a missionary. Brandon says he struggles with the language, but we had him tell us about the Book of Mormom in spanish and it was fantastic! After less than 2 months in his area, he already has a really strong spanish accent!
They have moved into an apartment in a members home and he said it was really nice. When asked what he eats...rice, beans, tortillas. They walk about 10 miles a day. It takes them about 45 minutes to walk to where they email us from.
I asked him about fleas in his apartment and luckily he reported that no, he doesn't have them there.
He and Elder Burton are excited to be together, as they knew each other before leaving home. They are working well together. There hadn't been a baptism in these areas for over 5 months, and now he reports that they have 5 committed to baptism in May.
He loves living in the land of the Book of Mormon and told us stories of the area.
It was a great Mother's Day!!
