...my companion and I have been recuperating...

Hola familia,

So this week has been fun....lol.

Ok, so lets start off with Monday. It seemed like it was just going to be a regular P-day, going to Coatepeque and using Internet and such... but no. On our way to Coatepeque we ran into a HUGE protest of people that were blocking the roads for anyone to pass. So we had to get out of the bus and walk through it to try and get to a bus on the other side of the rally that would get us there, which was interesting. What was funny about the whole thing is that trucks and people, everyone were being held back by these people protesting and during the whole thing I didn't see one cop. I just couldn´t help thinking that, man if this was happening back in the states the cops would be running through here gassing and breaking this up so everyone could get back to work, but it´s not like that down here, lol. Anyways, that was our Monday, trying to navigate back and forth through all that without bugging the people.

Then Tuesday, we had a district meeting and had to try and get there somehow, even though the buses weren´t running. Luckily, a member drove by while we were walking and asked if we wanted a ride, which we gratefully excepted. Turns out that the protest was still going so he told us that we were going to be taking a side road. Turns out he got lost or didn´t know where he was going but my companion and I, although missing our meeting for the 2 hour detour, did have a nice country ride, lol.

Then on Wednesday all of the new guys and the sister missionaries had a conference in Malacatan, a city about 1.5 hours away and my companion being pretty new still got to go. So we woke up at like 4 am to get him there on time and so I could go do divisions with Pajapita (Pa-ha-pee-ta). Later that day we got a call from the zone leaders who went to the conference with everyone, that the conference was going to be changed to a later date and that they were on there way home. So we ran through our usually Wednesday routine of contacting and teaching until later that night when we went to play a little soccer with some investigators and members at the church. Anyways, one of the guys passed me the ball and I tried to kick it, although it was a little high. One leg went up the other left the ground too, lol, and I came crashing down and landed on my hand and I heard a cracking noise, lol, whoops. A little later that night I had a huge golf ball sized welt on my wrist so yeah, not sure if there is a fracture or just a bad sprain, it seems to be getting better, lol.

Then on Friday, the zone leaders wanted me and my companion to come down to get my companions foot looked at. Seems that he had an ingrown toe nail. I asked the doctor if he could check mine out and turns out that I too had an ingrown toenail and needed to be taken out....again. LOL. Here´s the funny part, IT WAS IN THE SAME TOE THAT THEY TOOK OUT LAST TIME!!! How convenient right, lol, good times, good times! (Note from mom...Couldn't they check the wrist!! Makes me crazy!!)

And yeah, from there me and my companion have been recuperating for the past few days, lol.
So yup, that was my week. Although, not too horribly exciting, lol.

Love you all tons,

Elder Marquis

  2. That was my thought when I was reading it "Oh good, a chance to get his wrist looked at" Haha! Would a missionary think of that??? Must not hurt too bad or he would have.
